This building is an authentic architectural treasure set in the heart of Palazzolo Acreide and dates back to 1700. The palazzo was restored in the 1900's, and enriched with evocative decorative elements. The façade has a main door and windows framed in limestone and ornate balconies. The richness of the decorations, the mirrors and the polychromy of the original cement tiles provides a lot of charm. An evocative ambience that tells the story of history, taste and magnificence that send us back to the atmosphere of times past. The building is accessed through a large entrance hall with a porter’s lodge, the old carriage house and two storerooms. A wide staircase in black characteristic local pece stone, surmounted by a stuccoed arch, leads to the first floor.
On the first floor there are several majestic rooms with imposing antique mirrors. The precious frescoes in the vault were executed by the famous Catanese painter Alessandro Abate. There are also four lounges overlooking the central hall, one decorated with stucco and the other three with vaults painted with frescoes by the painter Scalia.
From the back of the house there is a hidden internal wooden staircase, which leads to the mezzanine. This floor was historically used for the family's staff. Up here we have a large entrance hall, a utility room accessed from the kitchen, two bathrooms and an attic consisting of several rooms. This could be the perfect space to create a refugee fro the rest of the building, or a guest apartment.
An interesting element of this Palace is the large inner courtyard and small garden. This is accessed from the main staircase, through the decorated glass door and windows.
Palazzolo Acreide is one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, world heritage UNESCO, and the palace is located near the church of San Paolo, the ancient Greek theatre and the rock sanctuary with the famous Santoni from the mysterious cult of Magna Mater. Only 30 minutes from the nearby baroque Noto and to Siracusa.
